4.0 out of 5 stars Looks really good, comfortable, awsome price. Im happy, February 11, 2011

This review is from: Bobkona Hungtinton Microfiber/Faux Leather 3-Piece Sectional Sofa Set, Saddle (Kitchen)
I was very skeptical on purchasing a couch on the internet, but price was good and I couldn't find the right color and size sectional that I was looking for at any furniture store. After reading bad reviews about purchasing the couch from other vendors and shipping nightmares, I decided to pay extra and purchase the couch from Amazon and get free shipping. The three boxes made it into my house at the estimated delivery date (deliverd by ABF) without too much challenge. I had to make it up a flight of right angle stairs into a 2nd floor apartment. I can see that the assembly might be a pain for some people because the directions are just pictures. But if your familiar with bolts, locks nuts, and washers its pretty self-explanatory. The couch is light, wood isn't of the best material, but it seems like it is well built and sturdy. The couch shouldn't break unless someone where to cannonball on it. Cushions are very comfortable and seem to be made from good material. It does look really... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Love the Furniture! Shipping sucks! Dont order from Visondecor!, March 11, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
at first i gave them 4 stars but its been a whole month and i still havent received my refund for shipping!!!

First I'd like to announce once again that the shipping company used by Visiondecor is horrible (Baileys)! Not only was it late; they also came to my city just twice a month. (im in cheyenne, wy the capitol of the state btw) i ordered it on 29 Jan 2010 and received it today on 11 Mar 2010!

the furniture itself is beautiful! i made my rating based off of this alone. (Visiondecor just needs a new shipping company). they also promised to refund me the cost of shipping which was $228 for the hassle. I paid about $460 for my couch here on Amazon and as soon as i did they raised the price to $999! i wouldnt pay that much for it! the material and color is nice! the chaise is reversible which is a good thing except for the fact that the two pieces of the actual sectional (the chaise and the couch part) dont connect! and im guessing that it is for... Disappointed in how long it took to get delivered. Ordered on 11-21 and did not get delivered until 12-11 plus delivery was 1 1/2 hrs late. There was a defect with the chaise lounge (wood cracked by one of the screw holes). Does require assembly. Like the furniture, very comfy. Disappointed with delivery time and defect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, or the shelving unit with a split personality, May 8, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Winsome Wood Shelf, Espresso (Kitchen)
We're a family of bookworms who've had to get creative about adding linear feet of shelving. We also love oversize hardbound books and folios, so we need sturdy storage. A few months ago, I found these low-rise units on Amazon and realized they would fit in some unused space under a picture window. I ordered a single unit as kind of a test run to see how I liked the shelf in person -- color, stability, durability.

That shelf rated a solid six stars. I easily assembled it solo (instructions call for two-person assembly); the wood pieces were true and of reassuring heft, so I was able to put heavy books on both lower shelves and smaller items surrounded by movable decorative bookends on the top shelf (you could easily leave it bare or put collectibles there).

Unfortunately, the second piece I ordered had flaws in terms of the coloring of the finish. Because two of the three shelves and both of the rear rails are reversible, I was able to minimize the visual... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars nice for the price!, November 19, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Winsome Wood Shelf, Espresso (Kitchen)
I needed an additional bookcase in my bedroom and didn't want anything too big...or too expensive. I was a little worried ordering this as some of this manufacturer's pieces weren't reviewed too well (pieces scratched, didn't fit, etc.)

It arrived and I immediately opened it to make sure it was okay. No problems. Well, a tiny scratch on the back side of the top shelf...not a big deal since this will sit against the wall. I put it together by myself in about 25 minutes. I did go the extra step of putting some wood glue (not included, but even white glue will work) on the dowel pieces and on the little caps that cover the screws (it comes with 12 screws, and Allen wrench, and the little wooden caps that cover the holes.)

It looks very nice. The top doesn't sit perfectly on the sides, the middle of the side pieces are just slightly larger than the ends so the top has tiny gaps under it in the front and back. It could have been more flush, but it isn't fine... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Prettier in the picture...., January 5, 2010
This review is from: Winsome Wood Shelf, Espresso (Kitchen)
The wood, instead of being the glossy espresso that I was hoping for, is not that glossy and has different tones of espresso throughout. Probably not noticeable much unless you're up close to it. Also, with the shipping charge, it's pretty pricey for what I think is lower-quality furniture. Oh, and one of the flush that hides the holes where the screwes go in was missing in my shipment. Not a big deal for most, but it's kinda annoying. I paid for that little piece of wood!

4.0 out of 5 stars Stunning Modern Design for the Reasonable Among Us, December 2, 2005

This review is from: Dwell (Magazine)
Here is a magazine that focuses on modern design and clean-line architecture without the trendy vibe that makes a competitor like "Wallpaper" an expensive, hit-or-miss read. What I like most about "Dwell" is its consistency in presenting interesting designs from around the world that look quite livable and fashionable at the same time. Even the advertisements are quite compatible to the flow of the magazine, so much so that they often look like they are part of the editorial. There is a very useful "Marketplace" section at the end that tells you where to get a lot of the art, furniture and accessories complementary to the designs presented. I have often used these helpful listings to find some interesting things for my own place.

This magazine is definitely geared toward the urban loft dweller, but I like how they highlight homes with families in mind as well. Individual issues are often focused on either geographic or utility-related themes, thus keeping a library... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Great eye candy, no useful content, April 16, 2009

This review is from: Dwell (Magazine)
This magazine has great photos, and as an aficionado of mid-century modern I am drawn to it like a moth to a flame. But, if you want to actually apply any of these ideas to your own house, don't hold your breath--unless you have $150K to plunk down. The featured houses are all either custom built new homes, or incredibly expensive redesigns. I actually got pretty excited the first few issues, with all the possibilities, until I mentioned some of the materials to my architect friends. Yes, the Nanowall is great, but it is $30K for a SLIDING DOOR.

I have begun to find the magazine frustrating to read, simply because they dangle these amazing homes in front of me with no real hope of my ever approximating any of them in real life.

I was hoping for a magazine that is far more practical.

Don't get me wrong, I like Dwell. I think the magazine has a lot of great content, but the problem is that most of the time the stuff presented is super expensive.

I suggest using it for ideas, emulating them with your own creativity. :)
